Gina was a friend and a colleague who will be missed dearly. She demonstrated grace, compassion and a tremendous capacity to listen--to really listen.

The service yesterday was lovely. For all of Gina's college friends it was wonderful to hear about what an accomplished, giving woman she had become as an adult. We all remember her from college as being fun-loving and always ready to party, so we were wondering if people were talking about our Gina when they mentioned that she struck terror into the hearts of her medical students with her rigor and exacting demands. The most telling tribute, I believe, was that it seems like all her colleagues asked her to deliver their babies or grandchildren, so she must have been an amazing doctor.
I really miss Gina, but it was nice to be surrounded by so many people from all different phases of her life who loved her as well.

I miss talking to Gina almost every day. I still pick up the phone to call her on my way home from work. We became friends as residents in 1996 and have relied on one another for the past 14 years. We shared the same birthday and every year we planned to take a trip to celebrate together. I'm sorry to say that we had not yet made that trip. I will miss her on our special day this year. I will miss her every day this year.
